About Piano Lane:

Piano Lane is a local home-based studio in Nobby Beach, Gold Coast, where students of all ages are supported in learning piano through thoughtful, one-on-one tuition. Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs with a balance between building strong technical foundations and learning through inspiring repertoire that keeps joy at the centre.

Whether you're just starting out or picking up where you left off, we provide an encouraging space to explore music, learn proper technique, and grow your confidence at the piano.

Meet Kathryn:

Kathryn is the teacher and founder of Piano Lane. She has been playing piano for over 30 years and has more than 15 years of teaching experience.

Each lesson with Kathryn is designed to strike a balance between core musical foundations and the intrinsic motivation that comes from progressing through pieces you enjoy playing. Our curriculum and focus of each lesson typically includes a balance of technical development, repertoire progression, music theory, and aural training. This is delivered in ways that keep students engaged, focused, and enjoying learning the piano! This well-rounded focus ensures students are deepening their understanding, skill, and lifelong enjoyment.

Kathryn’s formal qualifications include:

• Bachelor of Music (2008) - Queensland Conservatorium of Music

• Graduate Diploma in Music Education (2009) - University of Queensland

• Associate Diploma in Piano (2006) - Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB)

Our Studio Environment:

All lessons are taught on our Kawai KG2D Grand Piano to give students experience playing on a concert-quality instrument from the very beginning. Our quiet, home-based studio is located just two minutes from Nobby Beach local shops and five minutes from the beach.

Parents and caregivers are welcome to sit in on lessons, or relax nearby with a coffee while their child plays.
